ka-Map: Free, Open-Source mapping

ka-Map (« ka » as in ka-boom!) is an open source project that is aimed at providing a javascript API for developing highly interactive web-mapping interfaces using features available in modern web browsers.

The look and feel, I hate to say, is very much like what got my attention at Google Maps! The demo doesn’t have a full address search engine, but I was able to drag the map and go in zooming at my home address – impressive!

For a live example of ka-Map in action, check DM Solutions Group’s Maps for MapServer preview at http://maps.dmsolutions.ca/ .

For those wondering why they have offices in both Ottawa and Gatineau, both cities are across the river which is the geographical limit of Quebec and Ontario. Ah, politics.
